ROANOKE, VA January 2008 – Waldvogel Commercial
Properties, Inc. is pleased to announce the sale of a 1.23
acres site at 612-616 S. Jefferson Street in downtown Roanoke
for $1,300,000. Waldvogel Commercial Properties was the
sole broker in the transaction, which The Roanoke Times
has identified as one of the year's 10 most significant
real estate transactions.
The site was acquired for
the construction of an office building in which to house
the Social Security Administration. Demolition of existing
structures on the site was to begin immediately, with construction
of the new complex to commence in early 2008.
City officials
have said the new building will keep federal jobs downtown
and enhance economic development along that stretch of
Jefferson Street, a gateway into the Central Business District.
